Description
The xTool F2 Ultra UV is the first consumer-grade desktop laser capable of 3D engraving inside glass and crystal. Its 5W UV laser (355nm wavelength) operates via cold-processing — breaking molecular bonds with high-energy photons rather than heat. This makes it the correct tool for materials that thermal lasers damage: clear glass, crystal, heat-sensitive plastics, and precision-coated surfaces. For glassware personalisation, crystal award production, and ceramic marking at scale, the F2 Ultra UV covers a category of work that no diode, fiber, or CO2 laser handles reliably.

3D Inner Glass Engraving
The F2 Ultra UV focuses the UV laser beam to a precise point inside a transparent glass or crystal object — not on its surface. By positioning this focal point in three dimensions and moving it systematically, the machine creates patterns, text, and 3D models suspended inside the material. The technique, previously limited to industrial laser systems, produces the crystal trophies, personalised glass blocks, and decorative crystal balls sold as premium gifts and corporate awards. From a desktop machine, this capability opens a product category that requires no special glass treatment, coating, or surface preparation.
Cold Processing — Why It Matters
Thermal lasers (diode, CO2, fiber) generate heat as a byproduct of the marking process. On glass and crystal, heat causes micro-fractures. On heat-sensitive plastics, it causes melting and discolouration. On precision-coated surfaces, it causes coating bubbling or thermal spread beyond the mark boundary.
The UV laser's cold processing mechanism removes material photochemically rather than thermally — the result on glass is clean fracture-free marks, and on sensitive materials, burn-free edges with no residue or cleanup required.
