Description
Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2) INDX
Prusa's enclosed CORE One+ with the Bondtech INDX toolchanger built in: up to eight materials, each with its own nozzle, and almost no purge waste.
The Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2) INDX is the CORE One+ CoreXY printer with the Bondtech INDX toolchanger integrated at the factory. Rather than pushing several filaments through one nozzle, it parks up to 8 passive tools in a dock. Each tool is a nozzle loaded with its own filament, and a single Smart Head picks up whichever one the print needs.
A tool change takes about 12 seconds and wastes about 0.013 g of filament, so multi-colour and multi-material prints run without a wipe tower or a pile of purged plastic. It comes assembled (built, calibrated and tested at Prusa's factory in Prague) or as a kit, with 4 or 8 tools.
What makes INDX different
Induction-heated nozzles
A coil in the moving head heats the steel nozzle to printing temperature in seconds. Parked tools cool down in the dock, so they don't ooze while they wait.
Smart Head, passive tools
All the electronics are in the head. Each parked tool is just a nozzle and a dock, so adding a material means adding a nozzle rather than a whole print head.
No wipe tower
Every material has its own nozzle, so there is nothing to flush between changes. Prints finish faster and the purge bin stays almost empty.
Automatic tool alignment
An eddy-current offset sensor outside the print area calibrates each tool in about 15 seconds, so all eight nozzles print in the same place.
Load-cell first layer
The nozzle presses on the sheet and a load cell maps the bed before every print. No manual Z-offset, no test squares.
Rigid and flexible together
Self-adjusting drive tension handles TPU through to rigid engineering filaments, so you can combine hard and soft materials, or a soluble support, in one print.
Assembled or kit, 4 or 8 tools
Assembled printers are built, calibrated and tested by Prusa and are ready to print about 10 minutes after unboxing. The kit includes the full INDX hardware and Prusa's online assembly guide, for anyone who wants to know the machine inside out and save on the price.
4 tools covers most multi-colour work and the common material pairs (PLA + support, PETG + TPU). The 4-tool printer has all eight dock positions, so it can be upgraded to 8 tools later. Choose 8 tools from the start if you print complex multi-colour models or switch often between several materials.
Looking for a single-nozzle printer? See the standard Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2). Need a bigger build volume? The Prusa CORE One L+ INDX offers 27 litres and a 60 °C chamber.

Materials
The stock nozzles handle PLA, PETG, ASA, TPU, PC, PA11 nylon, PVB, BVOH and most other non-abrasive filaments. Because each material has its own nozzle at its own temperature, you can combine PLA with a BVOH soluble support, PETG with TPU for soft-touch grips, or several colours of the same material without cross-contamination.
With the 55 °C actively heated chamber, ASA and PC print with far less warping than on an open-frame machine.
The surface-hardened nozzles can print filled filaments occasionally (Prusa rates them at about 10 kg of PETG-CF or 5 kg of PC-CF), but they are not designed for long-term abrasive printing.

Questions about the CORE One+ INDX
What is INDX?
INDX is a toolchanger developed by Bondtech and integrated into the CORE One+ by Prusa. The printer has one Smart Head with the heating coil, sensors and electronics, plus up to 8 passive tools parked in a dock. Each tool is a nozzle with its own filament. The head collects the tool it needs, heats it by induction in seconds and prints. A change takes about 12 seconds and wastes about 0.013 g of filament.
How is INDX different from an AMS, the MMU3 or a dual-nozzle printer?
Single-nozzle systems such as an AMS or the MMU3 feed several filaments through one hotend, so every change means unloading, loading and purging the old material. That takes time and creates waste, often a wipe tower plus purged plastic. INDX gives every filament its own nozzle, so there is almost nothing to purge and no colour bleed between materials. A dual-nozzle printer has the same advantage but stops at two materials. INDX goes to eight.
Should I buy 4 tools or 8, and can I add tools later?
Four tools cover most multi-colour prints and the common material combinations. Eight tools suit detailed multi-colour models and workshops that switch often between materials. The 4-tool printer has all eight dock positions, so it can be upgraded to 8 tools later.
What is the build volume with INDX installed?
248 × 205 × 270 mm (13.7 litres). That is slightly less than the standard CORE One+ (250 × 220 × 270 mm), because the tool dock takes up some space inside the chamber. If you need larger parts, the CORE One L+ INDX offers 298 × 275 × 330 mm.
Can it print carbon fibre and other abrasive filaments?
Occasionally. The stock 0.4 mm high-flow nozzles are surface-hardened nitrocarburized steel. Prusa rates them for about 10 kg of PETG-CF or 5 kg of PC-CF before print quality is affected. They are not designed for continuous abrasive printing, so if that is your main use, plan to replace nozzles as consumables.
Can I use it completely offline?
Yes. You can set up and run the printer, slice and update the firmware without an internet connection, and print from USB. Prusa Connect and the Prusa app are optional.
