3D printing in healthcare

Eolas Prints works with hospitals, clinics, orthopaedic and podiatry practices, universities and medical-device developers to produce anatomical models, patient-specific aids and custom medical tooling by 3D printing. From a CT or MRI-derived 3D file, or a 3D scan, we manufacture accurate, ready-to-use parts in our own ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified facility in Spain — supporting surgical planning, training, orthotics and the rapid production of bespoke instruments and jigs.
We are a digital-fabrication partner, not a clinical provider: we turn your validated 3D data into physical parts. For any application involving patient contact, sterilisation or regulatory requirements, we work to your specifications and material choices — just tell us what the part needs to do.
Surgical planning models
Patient-specific anatomical models (biomodels) let surgical teams hold, study and rehearse on a true-to-scale replica of a patient's anatomy before entering theatre. Printed from segmented CT/MRI data, these models support pre-operative planning, implant sizing, device fitting and team briefing, and can combine colours or materials to highlight key structures such as vessels, tumours or fracture lines. Better planning means shorter time in theatre and clearer communication with patients and colleagues.

Orthopaedics & podiatry
3D printing is ideal for patient-specific orthoses — insoles, splints, braces and supports shaped to an individual's anatomy from a scan. Compared with traditional methods, printed orthotics can be lighter, ventilated for comfort, quickly iterated and easily reproduced. We print these in durable, skin-friendly material options and can advise on the right choice for comfort and durability; antibacterial filament options are also available.
Medical education & training
Accurate, affordable anatomical teaching models give students and trainees hands-on understanding that screens and textbooks can't match. We produce durable models of bones, organs and complex structures for universities, teaching hospitals and simulation labs — reproducible in quantity and printable in full colour or multi-material to show internal detail.

Custom instruments, cases & jigs
Beyond models, we 3D print custom tooling for clinical and laboratory settings: instrument trays and cases, sterilisation-tray inserts, positioning jigs, surgical guides and fixtures, and bespoke holders for specific procedures or equipment. Producing these on demand removes long lead times and lets you tailor every part to the exact workflow.

From scan or scan data to finished part
The workflow is simple. You provide a 3D file (STL, STEP, OBJ, 3MF) or segmented CT/MRI data; if you only have a physical reference, our 3D scanning can help capture it. We advise on material and process, manufacture the part, finish it and ship it securely. Need design help turning scan data into a clean, printable model? Our team can take it from data to part — the same end-to-end capability behind our 3D printing service and architectural models.
Materials
We print in a range of materials and help you choose for each application: PLA for models and visual aids; PETG for tough, cleanable functional parts; ABS and ASA for heat resistance; and flexible TPU for comfort-fit orthotics. Antibacterial and other specialist filaments are available, and because we manufacture filament ourselves in Spain under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, with REACH-compliant options, we control quality from raw material to finished part. Why Eolas Prints
Certified processes (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001), professional equipment, in-house filament manufacturing, expert material guidance and dimensional accuracy verified against your data — with a single point of contact who understands both 3D printing and the needs of clinical work. Based in Cantabria, between Santander and Torrelavega, we supply healthcare and research clients across Spain, the EU and internationally.
Frequently asked questions
What files do you need for an anatomical model?
A 3D file (STL, STEP, OBJ or 3MF) or segmented CT/MRI data. If you have imaging but not a printable model, we can help with the conversion, or you can use our 3D scanning service for physical references.
Can you print patient-specific orthotics and insoles?
Yes. From a scan of the patient's anatomy we produce custom insoles, splints, braces and supports in comfortable, durable materials, including antibacterial filament options.
Which materials can you use?
PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and flexible TPU among others, with antibacterial and REACH-compliant options. We'll recommend the best material for your part's contact, cleaning and durability needs — tell us the application.
Do you make implants or certified medical devices?
We are a manufacturing partner producing models, aids, tooling and prototypes to your specifications; we don't supply implantable or certified medical devices. For regulated applications we work to your defined material and process requirements.
Do you ship across Spain and the EU?
Yes. We manufacture in Cantabria, Spain, and ship throughout Spain and the European Union, and internationally on request.
