Description
ELEGOO Saturn 4 Ultra
12K resolution with Tilt Release, heated tank and an AI camera — the reliability upgrades that matter when you print every day.
The Saturn 4 Ultra sits between the Saturn 4 and the 16K model. It keeps 12K resolution — the practical sweet spot for miniatures and most prototyping — but adds the mechanical and workflow upgrades from the Ultra line: Tilt Release, a heated resin tank, an AI camera and 150 mm/h print speed.
Those upgrades are about reliability more than image quality. Tilt Release cuts peel force dramatically, so tall models and delicate supports survive; tank heating holds resin at 30 °C for consistent viscosity in a cold workshop. Together they turn a good printer into one you can leave running.
What Makes It Different
Tilt Release
The tank tilts to release each layer instead of pulling the model off the film. Far lower peel force, fewer failures on tall or delicate parts, and much faster cycles.
Smart tank heating
Holds resin at 30 °C for consistent viscosity and layer adhesion — the difference between reliable winter printing and separated layers.
10″ 12K mono LCD
11520 × 5120 at 19 × 24 µm. The practical sweet spot — the great majority of the visible gain over FDM, without paying for 16K.
AI camera
Real-time monitoring with alerts for empty plates and warped models — useful when a long plate runs overnight.
COB + Fresnel lens
Collimated light keeps exposure even across the whole plate, so corner parts cure like centre parts.
Open materials
Any 405 nm photopolymer resin. No proprietary cartridges, no consumable lock-in.

Need finer detail? The Saturn 4 Ultra 16K resolves at 14 × 19 µm on the same footprint — worth it for jewellery casting masters and dental prosthetics, where sub-20 µm precision has functional consequences.
You Will Also Need a Wash & Cure Station
A resin printer on its own is an incomplete system. Every part must be washed in IPA to remove uncured resin, then UV-cured to full hardness and dimensional stability.
- Mercury Plus V3.0 — 7.5 L wash capacity with brackets taking build plates up to 10 inches; fits the Saturn 4 range directly.
- Mercury XS Bundle — separate wash and cure stations with a handheld UV lamp.
Release film, masking LCD, build plate and resin tank are wear parts on any MSLA machine. We stock replacements in Spain.
Safety & workspace
Uncured photopolymer resin is a skin and eye irritant. Work in a ventilated space, wear nitrile gloves and eye protection when handling liquid resin, wash parts in IPA, and cure fully before handling bare-handed. Dispose of waste resin and used IPA as chemical waste — never down the drain. Keep away from children and pets.
Who It's For
- Studios printing daily — where reliability matters more than the last increment of resolution
- Miniature and tabletop producers running repeat batches
- Jewellery and product designers needing consistent output
- Service bureaus adding resin capacity alongside FDM
Questions About the Saturn 4 Ultra
What does Tilt Release actually change day to day?
Standard MSLA machines lift the model straight up off the release film after each layer, and that suction force is what tears delicate supports and pulls tall models off the plate. Tilt Release tips the tank instead, so the layer peels from one edge rather than all at once. In practice you get noticeably fewer failed prints on tall or thin geometry, less strain on supports, and much shorter layer cycles — which is where the 150 mm/h comes from.
Why does the resin tank need heating to 30 °C?
Resin viscosity changes sharply with temperature. In a cold workshop it thickens, flows back slowly between layers and cures inconsistently — which shows up as poor layer adhesion or separated layers. Holding the tank at 30 °C keeps viscosity stable so results in January match results in July. If your printing space is unheated, this feature matters more than any resolution difference.
Should I choose this or the 16K version?
Both have the same footprint, the same Tilt Release, the same heated tank and the same 150 mm/h. The only meaningful difference is pixel pitch — 19 × 24 µm here against 14 × 19 µm on the 16K. For miniatures, models and general prototyping this is the sensible choice. Step up to 16K if you print jewellery casting masters or dental work, where the finer pitch has functional rather than cosmetic consequences.
Can I leave it running unattended overnight?
The AI camera with chamber light gives real-time monitoring and alerts for empty plates or warped models, and power-loss recovery resumes after an outage — so long plates are practical. The real constraint is ventilation rather than the machine: resin off-gasses throughout a print, and a sealed room accumulates VOCs over an overnight run in a way it does not during a ventilated day. Run long jobs in a garage or workshop with genuine airflow, not a bedroom.
What safety kit do I actually need?
Nitrile gloves — not latex, which resin degrades — plus eye protection when handling liquid resin or used IPA. If you use a handheld UV lamp, UV-blocking glasses rated for 385–405 nm. Waste resin, contaminated wipes and saturated IPA should be cured solid under UV and disposed of as chemical waste, never poured down a drain. None of this is elaborate, but it is not optional either.
