TPU is the flexible filament — a thermoplastic polyurethane that bends, stretches, compresses, and springs back, for parts that rigid materials simply cannot make. From soft skin-contact wearables to firm outdoor seals, the right TPU depends on how flexible you need the part to be. Choosing a TPU — It's All About Hardness

TPU is graded by Shore hardness, which determines how soft or firm the printed part feels:

• TPU D53 — our softest grade, like a soft rubber eraser. Conformable and gentle against skin, ideal for wearables, orthopaedic supports, and prosthetics. Direct drive only.
• TPU 93A — the versatile middle ground, like a car tyre: flexible and resilient but firm enough to hold structure. The best general-purpose grade for gaskets, phone cases, grips, and seals.
• TPU D60 UV Resistant — our firmest grade, like a hard rubber sole, with certified UV stability and hydrolysis resistance. The right choice for outdoor and marine parts. The only grade that works with short Bowden setups.
• TPU Transition — a flexible 93A grade with a unique gradient colour effect, made productively from our colour-change material.

Getting the Best From TPU

TPU is sensitive to speed and retraction — print slow and keep retraction minimal. Our PETG, TPU & ASA settings guide gives you reliable starting points, and for flexible prints we recommend pairing it with Magigoo Pro Flex adhesive.
