Fiber Laser vs Diode — What Each Does

The 20W fiber laser (1064nm) is the defining upgrade over the standard F1. Fiber lasers interact with metals at a wavelength optimised for metal absorption — marking stainless steel, titanium, brass, copper, gold, silver, and aluminium with deep contrast and high permanence. The 20W fiber laser also performs colour engraving on stainless steel (oxidation-based colour marking), produces deep annealing marks on tool steel, and marks ceramics and hard plastics with precision. At 10,000 mm/s, it processes metal batches at a speed that makes it viable as a production tool, not just a sample machine.

The 20W diode laser (455nm) handles organic materials: wood, leather, acrylic, cork, bamboo, paper, and fabric — the same class of materials the standard F1's diode covers, at higher power for faster throughput and deeper cutting.

Colour Engraving on Stainless Steel

One of the fiber laser's capabilities that has no equivalent in diode engraving is colour marking on stainless steel.
