Eolas Prints TPU Flex D53 is the softest grade in our flexible filament range — a Shore D53 thermoplastic polyurethane designed for applications where comfort, skin contact, and conformability matter most. It is softer and more pliable than both 93A and D60, making it the right choice for wearables, orthopaedic supports, prosthetics, and any part that needs to flex gently against skin.

A Note on Food Contact
Our food-contact certification applies to the raw filament material — the virgin pellets and masterbatches we manufacture from — not to finished printed parts. 3D-printed surfaces contain microscopic gaps between layers that can harbour bacteria, and most printers use brass nozzles that may introduce trace metals into the print. For this reason, no 3D-printed object can be guaranteed food-safe by the filament alone. If you intend a part for food contact, print it with a stainless-steel nozzle and apply a food-safe sealant — and assess suitability for your specific use. This remains the responsibility of the maker.
Shore Hardness in Context
D53 is significantly softer than our other TPU grades. To put it in perspective: D53 feels like a soft rubber eraser, 93A feels like a car tyre, and D60 feels like a hard rubber sole. Choose D53 when the part needs to flex easily and conform to a surface or body — not when rigidity or wear resistance is the priority.
Extruder Requirements
TPU D53 requires a direct drive extruder. It is not compatible with Bowden systems. At D53 hardness, the filament is too soft to push through a long Bowden tube — it will buckle and jam before reaching the nozzle. Direct drive extruders (Bambu Lab, Prusa MK4, Voron, Ratrig) handle D53 reliably. If you are using a Bowden printer, consider our TPU D60 UV Resistant instead, which is compatible with short Bowden setups.
Bambu Lab AMS is not compatible with TPU — load D53 exclusively via the external spool holder.

Drying Before Printing
TPU D53 is highly hygroscopic. Dry at 50–60°C for 4–8 hours if the spool has been open for more than a few days. Wet filament causes stringing, surface bubbles, and weak layer adhesion. Store in a sealed container or dry box with silica gel desiccant between sessions.

When do you ship?
We ship Monday to Friday from our warehouse in Cantabria, Spain. In-stock orders placed before the cut-off time ship the same business day. Orders placed after the cut-off, or at the weekend, ship on the next business day.

How do you ship?
Parcels — we ship with GLS within mainland Spain & Portugal and with UPS to the rest of the world. Shipping is calculated at checkout from your delivery address, the weight of your order and live carrier rates, so you see the exact price and delivery options before you pay.
Pallet freight — large and heavy machines, such as CO₂ laser cutters and industrial or large-format printers, ship on a pallet by road or, to islands and overseas destinations, by sea. Orders over 40 kg to mainland Spain & Portugal also ship by pallet. The pallet rate for your destination is shown at checkout, and orders over 150 kg ship on two pallets.

Pallet deliveries
- The carrier will contact you to arrange a delivery day, so please give a phone number that will be answered.
- Delivery is to your address at ground level. The pallet is not carried inside or unpacked, so please make sure you can unload it — with a forklift, a pallet truck or enough people. Machines can weigh 70 - 250 kg.
- If your address has restricted access (no truck access, a narrow street, no loading area) or you need a tail-lift, please contact us before ordering.
- Check the pallet before signing. Note any visible damage on the delivery note and send us photos within 24 hours.
- If a delivery fails because no one is available or the address cannot be accessed, redelivery and storage may be charged.
How about taxes & duties?
EU, including mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands: VAT is included in the price you pay at checkout. Nothing further is due on delivery.
Outside the EU VAT area, including the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla: all orders ship on DAP (Delivered at Place) terms. We pay for export clearance and transport to your address. Import duties, import taxes (such as VAT, IGIC or IPSI) and customs clearance fees are not included and are paid by the recipient.
- Parcels: UPS will contact you to arrange payment of any duties and taxes before delivery.
- Pallets: the carrier's agent or a customs broker at destination will contact you. You are responsible for import clearance.
If a shipment is refused or not cleared through customs, the return freight and any costs incurred will be deducted from any refund.
