Description
Flashforge CJ270
Material jetting with UV curing, 7 printheads and 7 µm layers. Over 10 million colours, clear and white, printed together in one run — no painting afterwards.
Full-colour 3D printing has meant one of two things: a filament printer switching between a handful of spools, or an industrial colour jetting system costing tens of thousands of euros. The CJ270 sits between them. It jets droplets of photopolymer from seven printheads — cyan, magenta, yellow, black, white, clear and a water-soluble support — and cures each layer instantly with UV light. Colour is mixed at the droplet level, so gradients, skin tones and translucent effects come out of the machine finished.
That is a genuinely different result from multi-colour FDM. A four-spool printer can place four colours; the CJ270 blends CMYK, white and clear into continuous tone, the way an inkjet printer does on paper.
What sets it apart
True continuous colour
CMYK, white and clear are combined droplet by droplet. Smooth gradients and natural skin tones, not the banded blocks of filament-swap printing.
7 µm layers
Industrial colour jetting systems typically print at around 16–32 µm. At 7 µm, edges and surface texture stay sharp under close inspection.
Water-soluble support
Soak the part and the supports dissolve. An ultrasonic cleaner cuts removal from around 10 hours to 1–2 hours.
Clear and translucent
A dedicated clear material allows transparent and semi-translucent effects inside a single print.
Built-in carbon filter
An integrated activated carbon filter reduces odour from printing. It fits a studio or office rather than needing a workshop.
ColorPrint slicer
Colour mapping, support and layout in one workflow, plus AI-assisted modelling that turns a 2D image into a printable colour model.

What to know before you buy
The CJ270 is a capable machine, but it is a different kind of purchase from an FDM printer. Four things are worth understanding up front.
- Materials are proprietary. The CJ270 runs only on Flashforge's dedicated CJ270 materials; third-party resins are not supported and can damage the printer. Each material card activates once and transfers its full balance to the machine. Material cost is a real running cost — budget for it alongside the printer.
- Print times are long. As a guide, models under 10 cm take up to around 10 hours, around 10 cm roughly 15 hours or more, and around 15 cm 25 hours or more. ColorPrint gives an estimate after slicing.
- The build volume is compact. 180 × 120 × 100 mm suits figures, models, prototypes and display pieces — not large parts.
- Opened materials have a shelf life. Unopened materials last 18 months; once opened, use them within about 2 months. It suits steady use better than occasional prints.
Safety and workspace
The CJ270 uses UV-curing photopolymer materials. Uncured material can irritate skin and eyes: wear nitrile gloves when handling materials or uncured parts, and work in a ventilated room. The built-in carbon filter reduces odour but does not replace ventilation. Dispose of used support solution and waste material according to local regulations, never into the drain.
Who it is for
- Character, IP and collectible studios — full-colour figures straight off the machine, without paying a painter per piece
- Design studios — colour-accurate product and presentation models
- Business and R&D — colour prototypes and visual mock-ups in-house
- Education — anatomical, geographic and scientific models where colour carries the information
- Makers moving beyond multi-colour FDM who want continuous tone rather than colour blocks
Questions about the CJ270
How is the CJ270 different from a multi-colour FDM printer?
A multi-colour FDM printer switches between a few spools of coloured filament, so each area of the model is one of those colours. The CJ270 jets tiny droplets of CMYK, white and clear photopolymer and cures them with UV light, mixing colour at the droplet level. The result is continuous tone — smooth gradients, skin tones and translucency — with 7 µm layers rather than the 50 µm or more typical of FDM.
Can I use third-party materials?
No. The CJ270 currently supports Flashforge's dedicated CJ270 materials only — Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, White, Clear and Support. Third-party materials are not supported and may damage the printer. Each material card activates once, transferring its full balance to the machine.
How long does a print take?
It depends on size, thickness and orientation. As a general guide, models under 10 cm take up to around 10 hours, models around 10 cm roughly 15 hours or more, and models around 15 cm about 25 hours or more. The ColorPrint slicer gives an estimated print time after slicing.
Is post-processing needed?
Colour is printed in, so no painting is needed. The water-soluble supports dissolve when the part is soaked in water; an ultrasonic cleaner reduces removal from around 10 hours to 1–2 hours. For a more refined finish you can lightly sand or polish, or apply a thin gloss coat and UV cure it.
Does the CJ270 have Wi-Fi?
Not at present. Files are sent from a connected computer through ColorPrint over LAN, or transferred by USB drive. Flashforge has said Wi-Fi support is planned for a later update.

- Delivery is to your address at ground level. The pallet is not carried inside or unpacked, so please make sure you can unload it — with a forklift, a pallet truck or enough people. Machines can weigh 70 - 250 kg.
- If your address has restricted access (no truck access, a narrow street, no loading area) or you need a tail-lift, please contact us before ordering.
- Check the pallet before signing. Note any visible damage on the delivery note and send us photos within 24 hours.
- If a delivery fails because no one is available or the address cannot be accessed, redelivery and storage may be charged.

EU, including mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands: VAT is included in the price you pay at checkout. Nothing further is due on delivery.
Outside the EU VAT area, including the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla: all orders ship on DAP (Delivered at Place) terms. We pay for export clearance and transport to your address. Import duties, import taxes (such as VAT, IGIC or IPSI) and customs clearance fees are not included and are paid by the recipient.
- Parcels: UPS will contact you to arrange payment of any duties and taxes before delivery.
- Pallets: the carrier's agent or a customs broker at destination will contact you. You are responsible for import clearance.
If a shipment is refused or not cleared through customs, the return freight and any costs incurred will be deducted from any refund.
