Spool of Eolas Prints PLA filament, made in Spain, 1.75 mm 1 kg

Eolas Prints is a European 3D printer filament manufacturer based in Cantabria, in northern Spain. We have made our own filament since 2017 – PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and TPU – in our own facility, certified to ISO 9001 for quality and ISO 14001 for environmental management. Our filaments are sold across Europe in English, Spanish, German and French, and our profiles are built into OrcaSlicer, ElegooSlicer and PrusaSlicer.

Our story

Year Milestone
2015 Eolas Prints is founded with one goal: filament that behaves as it should, straight off the spool.
2017 Our first commercial filament, PLA, goes on sale after a period of research and development.
2018 We launch flexible TPU and NatureWorks Ingeo 850 and 870 PLA filaments.
2019 PETG and wood filaments join the range, and a capital investment helps the company grow.
2020 Turnover grows fourfold and we start producing large industrial coils.
2022 An investor from Oxford, UK, joins as shareholder; we improve the production line and quality control and exhibit at trade shows in Barcelona and Lyon.
2026 Eolas Prints profiles are built into the major open-source slicers, and the range covers 18 materials.

How we make filament

Every spool goes through the same controlled process in our facility. You can read the full version on our making 3D printer filament page.

  1. Sourcing: we buy only premium raw-material pellets with full traceability.
  2. Drying: the pellets are dried to remove absorbed moisture before extrusion.
  3. Extrusion: the dried pellets are melted and shaped into a continuous strand.
  4. Cooling: the filament passes through a hot water bath to set its round shape, then a lukewarm bath to solidify.
  5. Spooling and measuring: a laser measures the diameter continuously to keep it within tolerance at 1.75 mm or 2.85 mm.
  6. Packaging: spools are vacuum-packed and boxed so they arrive dry and undamaged.

Quality and sustainability

  • Certified processes: production follows ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
  • Traceable raw materials: every batch starts from documented, premium pellets; our PLA raw material is EU food-contact certified (this applies to the raw material, not to printed parts).
  • Less waste: the colour blend produced when we change colours is spooled as our Transition filaments instead of being thrown away.
  • Carbon-neutral shipping: our shipping emissions are neutralised through carbon removal with Shopify Planet – see carbon-neutral shipping.

Why buy filament from a European manufacturer?

  • Shorter supply chain: filament made in Spain travels a short distance to customers across Europe.
  • No import duties within the EU: EU customers buy directly from an EU manufacturer.
  • Support from the people who make it: our engineers answer technical questions in English, Spanish, German and French.
  • Consistency you can plan around: the same in-house process, batch after batch, so your print settings keep working.
  • Custom options: colours on request and industrial spools up to 20 kg.

Ready-made settings for your slicer

Because we make the filament, we also tune the print settings. Eolas Prints profiles are built into OrcaSlicer, ElegooSlicer and PrusaSlicer, available as free downloads for Bambu Studio and Orca-Flashforge, and listed in the partner programmes of UltiMaker Cura and Raise3D ideaMaker. Find yours in our slicer profile index.
